Google Places for Trades

Marketing your trade for free on Google

Google is mainly seen by most trade businesses as just a search engine, however it has a fantastic collection of tools for small local business to promote themselves for free, Google Places is probably the first place that any trade should market their business whether you are marketing an electrical business or architect business you need to be sure that your business can be found on there, as most trade business owners still have yet to get online properly if you at on it now, you'll have an advantage, Having a website alone doesn't count and to be honest never really did.

Fill out your information in full

When you add your business to Places you get to add all the information about your business that a potential customer needs plus you can get past customers to add reviews about your service. It takes a little time to get it filled out but that's all it takes there is no cost involved so spend that time doing it. It's really important to add as much information as possible, i see Local accounts that just have a business name and mobile phone number, but the more information you have the more likely a potential customer is to call you.

Your competitors aren't here

Don't expect results instantly but as time goes on and you add reviews to your listing you are more likely to be promoted to local people when they search for your profession so if the search for a 'Builder in St Albans' or 'Plumber in Stevenage' your business is more likely to be shown and above your competitors websites. The great thing about Google Local for you is, most of your competitors aren't even using it yet and the ones that are don't use the service properly.
